THE
REITIMIENTO
(Melting)
Maybe the
Chiloé's
most
interesting
rural,
original and
traditional
task is the
"reitimiento",
which in
general
removes to
effect in
the
winters(winter)
months. It
is begun
with in the
"carneo"
of a pork,
whom the
properly
such
"reitimiento"
follows(continues).
This
activity
lasts the
whole day
and consists
of the
boiling of
big
cauldrons
that hang of
the
"collin",
in the
typical
burner
Chilote,
of the fat
and chunks
of meat from
which the
lard and the
chicharrones
are
extracted.
While the
males worry
about this
work, the
women
prepare the
coils,
sopaipillas
and
milcaos,
that also
are cooked
in the great
cauldron.
The
(blackish(compressed))
puddings are
cooked in
water
hirviendo
and
spent(passed)
later by the
oven.
During this
task there
is drunk
abundant
alcoholic
maize drink
of apple and
wine.
